October 12, 2013-Long Island, NY to Washington DC

Today was an interesting day.  We rode out on the east end of Long Island on the North fork.  This is beautiful farm country and Wine Country and fall festival season for pumpkin shoppers.  We saw where George Costanza got his Hampton tomatoes and made the turn back to the west to get headed back south.  In this part of the country you pay tolls to cross every bridge and a toll to drive on the roads that connect the bridges.  I don't know where all those people were going, but we travelled with them in bumper to bumper traffic from 5 mph to 75 mph all the way to our hotel in DC. Tomorrow is the Million Veteran March at the WWII Memorial and we plan to be there.  If the trucker guy is going to jam the Beltway, he needs to get busy.  There is no much evidence of that movement spooling up. One of the pictures shows a long distance shot of NYC and we got one of the Veranzanno Bridge that we crossed over to Staten Island.  The view from there was great but no pictures were permitted.  I am not sure why or how they police that, but I did not want to get grabbed by the NSA for breaking the rules
