Well we have had a great trip The color in the mountains of Western Virginia were much different than in the coastal area and the "Welcome to Tennessee" sign was good to see. We made the 613 miles home in 10.5 hours flat door to door. Not bad for old folks. There was not a cloud in the sky the entire day and we left with it 48 degrees and it got up to 69 as we were coming through Knoxville. In the past 16 days we have ridden 3525 miles completely trouble free. We only had the rain suits on one day and saw spectacular scenery in TN, VA, WV, MD, PA, OH, NY, Ontario, CA, CT, NJ, DC, and NC. I hope you have enjoyed reading this blog as much as I have writing it. Until next time!!

October 19, 2013-Newport News, Williamsburg, Yorktown & Football
We had a great day today. We went to see Luke at his hotel this morning and then Olivia and I went to Historic Yorktown and Williamsburg where "Yorktown Day" was going on with reenactments and exhibits. There was a lot going on in Williamsburg with people dressed in period costumes and going about their daily activities from that period. Olivia enjoyed riding on the bike and seemed to enjoy seeing how people lived in the early period of our country. We had lunch at Cheeseburger in Paradise and then to the football game tonight where Maryville won 30-17. Tomorrow we head home and back to the real world.

October 18, 2013-Virginia Beach, VA to Newport News, VA
We ended up last night after I had done my post with a walk on the beach and Brenda finally got into the sand and got her feet wet. We saw some ships set sail and some fighters returning back into NAS Oceana as the sunset and full moon came up through the clouds. This morning I walked to the pier and back which got me 2.5 miles in and caught the morning Flag Raising at the Coast Guard Museum. Then we packed up and took a taxi to Southside HD where the recall parts had arrived for our bike. They did a great job and we are rolling on one of the few 2014 Harley's that have been updated. Those guys really did well getting HD to overnight the parts so we could get on the road. Great Customer Service!! We rode on over to Newport News and checked in and then rode the Colonial Parkway over to Williamsburg and Jamestown and came back. So far we have covered 2811 miles and doing well. The hotel shuttle to us to the Cracker Barrel for dinner and we saw the full moon rise again. Tomorrow we will ride around here some more and watch Luke and his team play Christopher Newport tomorrow night. GO SCOTS!!

October 17, 2013-Virginia Beach vacation Day
This morning I awoke to the news of a recall on my bike that I read about on Facebook. I was scheduled at the local dealership for service today anyway, so when I got there, they were just getting their first phone calls from customers who had received e-mails about the recall. The letter instructs you to "Do Not Ride" your bike and call your dealer and they will come pick it up and fix it. It involves the hydraulic clutch and says that it can fail and leave you unable to disengage the clutch. The dealer did a great job for me and got them to overnight me the needed parts so we can roll tomorrow. That will be tough for all the 2014 Hydraulic clutch bikes at or enroute to Daytona. This afternoon, the sun came out and we walked the boardwalk and then to Nick's for an early dinner. Tomorrow we will move to Newport News after we get the bike back and meet up with Luke, Jo, Natalie and Olivia!! It is wash day again, so I am headed to the Laundry Room!!
